Ballet is an artform that has been around since the Italian Renaissance of the 15th century and has been developed into a necessary foundation for so many other forms of dance. It is a beautiful combination of grace, skill, and strength that requires years of training to master and even more years of training to remain proficiency.
Ballet 1: Beginning Classic Ballet instruction. Perfect for your exiting Brooklyn STAR Dancer or any beginning dancer older than 6 years. Dancers are taught Classic Ballet style of dance and terminology, while gaining the strength, flexibility, and confidence required to move to intermediate ballet instruction.
Ballet 2: Requires 2 years of introductory ballet training, or upon approval from dance instructor. Here, dancers refine their technique & skills. They should be able to recall basic vocabulary and feet placement. Dancers move into more advance movement with the barre and freely. Leaps and Turns classes are a recommended compliment as wel
Ballet 3: Pre-Advanced Ballet Instruction & Requires Dual Enrollement in a Level 2 Ballet Class. Additions to the class are by invitation only
Dress Attire: Any color leotard or tank top, any color tights, with jazz pants, and tan jazz shoes (Tan in our performance color - black is ok for class). Hair up in polytail or bun.
Males dress in form fitting clothes.
Jazz has become one of the most popular dance styles, largely due to its popularity on television shows, movies, and music videos. People enjoy watching jazz dancers, as the dancing is fun, energetic and often upbeat.
Jazz 1: Introductory course will teach dancers the basic fundamentals of jazz, including the freedom to interpret the moves in the dancer’s own way. Dancers should have a great understanding in ballet 1 basics, and it is highly encouraged to enroll in both classes.
Jazz 2: Minimum 1 year experience in a beginning level Jazz class or upon approval from the dance instructor. To excel in Jazz, dancers should have a strong background in ballet, as it teaches you grace and balance. Students will learn double pirouettes and more advance turns of coupe’, a la secondes, fouettes, and more. Ballet and Leaps and Turns classes are highly recommended to take as well.

TAP: Dress Attire: Any colored leotard or dance attire, tights or socks, jazz pants or jazz shorts, black tap shoes. Hair Up in ponytail or bun. Males wear form fitting clothes.
Tap is the art of dance that uses your feet as percussions. Broadway tap is widely used in musical theater and jazz tap makes your feet a part of the music. Dancers will learn a variety of tap techniques...making a musical dance masterpiece..
Tap 1: Introduction to tap. The dancer will learn all the basic tap vocabulary and movements
Tap 2: Dancer should have at least one year of tap 1 and / or based on instructor's approval or invitation
HIP HOP (All styles): Dress Attire: T shirt or tank, sweatpants, harlem pants, or jazz pants; NO JEANS, no crop tops. with CLEAN sneakers designated for dance only, hair in ponytail. Knee pads can be worn to cover the knees
Hip Hop is a often referred to as street dancing, and is done to the rhythm and beats of hip hop music. Dancers will learn a wide range of dance styles including breaking, popping, & much more!
LYRICAL & CONTEMPORARY: Dress Attire: Any colored leotard, tank top, or tight clothing; tights, jazz shoes or lyrical shoes (BAREFOOT OK FOR CONTEMPORARY), & hair pulled up. Males wear form fitting clothes.
Lyrical is a beautiful fusion between ballet and jazz with contemporary styles of movement. Lyrics to songs inspire the dancer's movements to express their emotions. This style of dance has become very popular due to So You Think You Can Dance and other talent shows. Dancers must either have two years of experience in ballet or jazz -or- be concurrently enrolled in a ballet or jazz class
LEAPS, TURNS, & CONDITION: Dress Attire: Any ballet, jazz outfit, or comfy form fitting clothes. Ballet or jazz shoes, & hair pulled back. Males wear form fitting clothes.
This class concentrates on the technical aspects of leaping, jumping and turning by teaching a series of these movements while focusing on weight and direction changes. Students will develop balance, strength, elevation and body alignment.
TUMBLING: Dress Attire: Any form fitting dance attire & dance shoes or bare feet. This class gives a variety of stretching techniques to build a more flexible dancer; the second half of the class will focus on tumbling and use of the floor
